Optimal office furniture for productivity and efficiency!

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

These days every home needs an office space if not an entire office room. A calm and organized space if not an entire room to sort out bills, pay online, surf the net, work from home is a necessity. To meet the demands of this growing home office necessity, there is a great choice of office furniture available. An office desk should have a big enough area to write on and put other related items such as reference books etc, considering that every home in America these days have a computer as well. Ideally, there should be one desk for the computer and other storage accessories for the computer Hard Drive, speakers, etc., and another for writing and studying. I personally like to place the desk next to a window or in the vicinity of a window for a natural source of light during the day. After the desks are placed, I like to choose a good chair for myself – which I can lift up or down, and adjust the handles as I wish. For people who work from home, ergonomics is a crucial consideration and adjustable comfortable chairs are a must. After that, other lighting, and accessible storage for stationary is necessary. I also prefer to have a shelf nearby to keep books, folders and other office furniture related items for reference.

Children and baby furniture for growing minds!

Cribs and dressers are fixtures in any baby or toddler room. However, as they grow older, they are also spending more time awake. Children love to play around, move around and scribble all over the place. I realized when my daughter was one and a half years old and she started to climb up chairs. I bought a tiny table and chair set for my daughter when she was one and a half years old, which she loves to sit at and draw or scribble. I also have a tiny rocking chair for her and she has gotten to love. She rocks on it and has fun even though she is not reading a book. She still climbs up the adult chairs and tables but having her own set makes it easier for her to entertain herself. Children also get so many toys that a toy chest becomes a necessity very soon. Having a toy chest that is safe for children encourages children to understand tidiness. Children love opening and closing lids and in the process they can be taught to put back the toys in the chest at the end of the day or before bedtime. Similarly, having a little shelf for books also helps children learn organization. They can be taught to put away books on the shelf and not in the chest. With all these furniture, children can have an early start in understanding organization.
